What if yoga could heal your heart/mind, not just your body?

People practice yoga for many reasons, but often start through physical poses on the mat. But yoga is so much more than that.

Yoga is a practice that connects the body and mind. What you learn on the mat you take with you off the mat.

You learn to approach your poses with gentleness. You let go of pushing and forcing and find the path of more ease and less effort. Instead of moving toward pain, you listen to your body and give it what it needs: kindness and love.

Yoga poses happen on the mat, but the wisdom comes with you off the mat.

You learn to live with less stress and less anxiety in your life.

You gain better control and understanding over your thoughts and actions.

This is what we practice during Sangha Sundays and through each month between sessions.

What is a Sangha?

A Sangha is a community of like-minded people, learning and sharing together.

Sangha Sundays cultivates connection and community, with yourself and others, through the wisdom and teachings of yoga.

Imagine what it would feel like:

  • to let go of anxiety and feel peaceful and content every day. When peace seems out of your grasp, imagine being kinder to yourself about your circumstances.

  • to respond to challenging people in a way that doesn't force you to abandon yourself. Imagine feeling seen, heard, and that you truly communicated your thoughts. Some relationships are challenging; yoga teaches you to meet these struggles with love, kindness, and compassion.

  • to step into self-compassion and let go of self-judgment and criticism. No one is meaner to us than we are. You don't need to keep abusing yourself.

  • to set down perfectionism and live with more ease and freedom. Perfectionism causes anxiety, procrastination, and feeling stuck. What would it be like to walk away from that type of paralysis?

Sign up for the Sangha Sundays emails to find out the topic of the month! You can join every month or drop in when you can. There are only 2 emails each month, one with journal prompts and the other as a reminder to sign up for our monthly meeting. Please fill out the form below.

Hi! I'm Janine Agoglia.

I've been teaching yoga since 1998 and am passionate about helping people over 50 live their yoga practice, both on and off the mat. As a Type A "recovering" perfectionist, I have found yoga to be a key factor in my ability to let go of anxiety and embrace what is. Practicing yoga, both on the mat and in my life, allows me to live with an open heart and open mind, finding ease and joy in my daily life.

I'm excited to support you in your journey toward self-discovery, compassion, and contentment. Let's grow and explore together!

I love Janine’s Sangha Sundays. I curl up on the couch or comfy chair, with a cup of my favorite beverage (hot cocoa in the winter, iced coffee in the summer, or sometimes simply water) and share life experiences and insights with fellow kind, compassionate, and trustworthy life travelers. Janine prepares us well for the journey into ourselves. Every month she has a ‘journal prompt’ to explore during the month. She also provides added blog links to help us understand the journal prompts more deeply. When we meet monthly, we all share, to the level we are comfortable, our experiences with the prompts. I appreciate the trusted environment that Janine creates, which is honored by those who join in the discussions. I also appreciate the sharing that goes on about each other’s lives as we navigate the world. It is nice to feel I am not alone on this journey. The prompts are not always easy, but I always gain more insights when I take an honest look at myself and listen to others. Thank you, Janine!

What it's like to work with Janine

Not always easy to be open and frank about self criticism but Janine created such a trusting and safe environment that everyone was able to share painful incidents without shame. There is no one better equipped to lead such thought provoking sessions than Janine and for that, I have extraordinary gratitude and an abiding love for her and her practices.

~Heather D.

Thank you, Janine, for your expertise in creating a trust circle for all to safely participate at any level. I felt so nourished on multiple levels; mind, body, heart, and soul. Thank you for your attention to detail and caring touch throughout the weekend! You are amazing!

~Jack R.

From the moment I sat in the first circle, I felt safe, even with people I mostly didn't know. Janine held the space like a loving, accepting embrace. In this space of openness and vulnerability, with other like-minded humans, I was able to deepen my self-compassion and move it from something I knew in my head to something I could feel in my heart.
